Annual CHS All-Class Reunion
2024 Annual CHS All Class Reunion – Sponsored by The CAA
The 2024 CHS Alumni All Class Reunion IS A WRAP!!!
CHS YELLOWJACKET alumni spanning six decades – classes from 1958 through 2009 – along with their families and friends gathered for the 2024 CAA All-Class Reunion at Choctaw Middle School on June 22nd. “Milestone events” – Class of 1974’s 50th Reunion & Class of 1964’s 60th Reunion – were celebrated along with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Stone Tower Historical Preservation Project efforts and the renewal of friendships forged during C-NP School “glory days.”
As the 250+ attendees can attest, the afternoon social, the Stone Tower Preservation ribbon-cutting ceremony, the evening meal/program, and the individual class breakout sessions were outstanding. The table décor/arrangements, the catered meal, the brief program, the group/class pictures, the beautiful quilt donated by Nancy (Simons) Griffin {1964} for the Raffle drawing, and the assortment of Silent Auction items were exceptional.
Alan Bradshaw (1976) did a fantastic job as program emcee. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by three of our 2024 CAA Scholarship recipients – Ryan Dillinger, Jacie Freer, and Lainey Stevens. Dr. Dick Temple (1963) led the invocation. David Reid (1990), C-NP Schools Superintendent, provided a brief and informative “State of the C-NP Schools” message. Linda (Neal) Campbell (1970), CAA Board President, updated the audience on recent CAA accomplishments and future plans. Class/group pictures were taken by Bob Whitaker (1964.) The evening concluded with the closing of the Silent Auction and Raffle Drawings. The Classes of 1974 and 1964 then met at their assigned areas for more socializing.
A special thanks to the CAA Events Committee members: Mike Bower, Don Jernigan, Mona (Jernigan) Chartney, Gale Gendron, Tami (Baker) Stine, Loretta (Hall) Futrell, Jennifer (Points) McElvany, Barbara Shaw, Sharon Taylor, Becky (Mayberry) Taylor, Karen (Wakely) Watt, Susan (Planer) Phillips, and Nancy (Simons) Griffin for their “Above & Beyond” efforts, countless hours, and personal finances/resources expended in planning and staging this event. Also, this event would not be possible without the continued, outstanding support of C-NP School District leadership – especially David Reid, Superintendent, and Donna O’Neal, Principal of Choctaw Middle School.
The All-Class Reunion and the Alumni Golf Tourney are the CAA’s two annual fundraising events. Funds raised from these events support CAA “giving back” partnership efforts with the C-NP Schools via student scholarships, site instructional grants, teacher grants, Teacher of the Year donations, the C-NP Schools Museum, the Stone Tower Preservation Project and CAA “alumni reconnection” efforts via website, social media, and email. More than $15,000 will be “given back” in 2024.
The true success of these events cannot be measured solely in terms of dollars and cents. What value can be placed on: the renewal of friendships/relationships; the memories made; the “glory days” recalled; the CHS History preserved; the “giving back” examples demonstrated for new CHS Alumni? These are those “priceless” benefits and byproducts of an Alumni Association committed to its alumni – past, present, and future – its schools, and its communities.
