YOUR CAA’s 2024-25 fiscal year is nearing its close. It has been an eventful and “event-full” year. Planning has already begun for 2025-26. Checkout the Events Calendar and the corresponding referenced sections on the website to stay abreast of CAA happenings.
The links and related comments below provide a brief synopsis of the many 2024-25 CAA-sponsored events and/or accomplishments. They demonstrate YOUR Alumni Association’s continuing “Giving Back” partnership commitment to our schools, alumni, students, faculty, patrons and communities at large.
CAA 2024-25 Fiscal Year Highlights
2025 C-NP District Teacher of the Year Donation & Support ==> YOUR CAA donated $1250 and continued its tradition of providing volunteer support during the event.
2025 CAA Scholarship Awards & Matching Donations ==> YOUR CAA awarded a total of $17,000 in scholarships to eight OUTSTANDING CHS Seniors. Since the inaugural scholarship award in 2022, the CAA has now awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 17 CHS Seniors. Also, Dr Robby Whiteley {CHS Class of 1970} matched any CAA Scholarship donation made during 2025 “dollar for dollar” up to $5,000. (Dr Whiteley and family are also funding the $5,000 CAA Health Profession Scholarships annually.) Including Dr Whiteley’s donations, CHS Alumni have given $21,448.25 for CAA Scholarships during the 2024-25 fiscal year. The CAA encourages others to join in this most worthwhile of investments as we attempt to fulfill our “Pursue The Future” mission objective.
Final Walk-Through of “Original” CHS Facility on NE 10th St ==> YOUR CAA worked with the CHS Class of 2000 in organizing and supporting a “final walk-through” the “hallowed hallways” of the CHS facility on NE 10th before its demolition as part of the last bond issue.

2025 CHS Annual All-Class Reunion Sponsored by The CAA
Stone Tower Preservation – Continuation The CHS Class of 1974 used the remainder of funds from their 50th Reunion donations for additional landscaping and lighting at the Stone Tower. A special “thank you” to CAA Board members – Mona (Jernigan) Chartney and Jennifer (Points) McElvany – for overseeing these efforts.
Grand Opening/Open House of New CHS Facility on NE 10th ==> CAA Board members joined C-NP School District and community leaders at the opening of the new CHS facility on NE 10th St. – an integral component of the last bond issue passage.
Special Gift from the Johnny Vin Anderson Estate ==> In August, John Tom Anderson and Brenda (Harris) Anderson – Class of 1974, presented the CAA with a $10,000 donation from the estate of John Tom’s Dad, Mr. Johnny Vin Anderson – CHS Class of 1945.
CAA Special Donation for the C-NP Schools Museum ==> Your CAA authorized a special donation of $15,000 for the C-NP Schools Museum at its August 20th Board Meeting. The funds were subsequently transferred to the Choctaw-Nicoma Park Schools Museum Association (CNPSMA) bank account. A formal presentation will be made at the October 13th C-NP School Board meeting. In the past few years, the CAA has raised and donated over $30,000 for the Museum. The CAA Board continues to work closely with CNPSMA leadership. Welcome New CAA Board Members & 2025-26 CAA Board Officers: ==> Please welcome the latest additions to YOUR CAA Board leadership team: Nancy (Simons) Griffin {Class of 1964} and Angela (Swigart) Harvey {Class of 1981.} In order to facilitate continuity of operations, the CAA Board unanimously voted to retain the current slate of Board officers for 2025-26: Bob Whitaker, President; Mike Bower, Vice-President, Tami (Baker) Stine, Treasurer; Jennifer (May) Barba, Secretary. Your CAA Board generously volunteers their time and resources to help further the CAA’s short and long-term initiatives.
Commemorative Bricks Sale & Pickup ==> CAA Board members, Jennifer (May) Barba and Tami (Baker) Stine, took orders for commemorative bricks from the old CHS facility on NE 10th St. Following its demolition, they obtained bricks, cleaned & painted them, and stenciled the requested class year on each brick. This was a labor-intensive task and we salute both Jennifer and Tami for their hard work. The initial pick-up/delivery of the finished bricks was made following the September 17th CAA Board meeting. Additional pick-up/delivery opportunities will be available following future monthly CAA Board meetings – the next one is October 15th. Check the Events Calendar .
Reminders I ==> If your class is celebrating a Milestone or any other event/gathering, YOUR CAA can help publicize your event – IF we know about it. We will post your event info on the Events Calendar and in the Class Reunions section. We will also include it in our email correspondence and in CHS-related Facebook group posts. Keep us posted and stay informed by:
- Completing the Reunion/Event Notification form in the Events-Reunions section;
- Using the website’s Contact Us capability;
- Sending an email to info@choctawalumni.org or reunions@choctawalumni.org;
- Providing your Alumni Contact Info and encouraging your classmates to do so as well.
