CAA August 2023 News Bulletin

YOUR Choctaw Alumni Association (CAA) continues its proactive support of the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District – alumni, students, and faculty – with awards/donations already made in 2023 for: the C-NP Schools Museum {$1,200}, Scholarships to CHS Seniors {$6,000}, the 2023 C-NP Schools Teacher of the Year Celebration {$750}, Instructional Grants to each of the 9 District sites {$4,500}, and Teacher Grants to the Choctaw-Nicoma Park Public Schools Foundation (CNPPSF) {$1,000.}
 
The CAA will also present a $3,568.82 check – net proceeds from its 2023 All Class Reunion Gala – to the C-NP School District for the C-NP Schools Museum at the School Board meeting on October 9, 2023.  This donation will bring the total amount “donated/given-back” by the CAA in 2023 to $17,018.82.
 
These and other CAA efforts are made possible by the generous donations from individuals and our Business/Community Partners & Sponsors along with funds raised through our two annual fundraisers: the Alumni Golf Tournament and the All-Class Reunion Gala.  YOUR continued participation and support in any/all of these areas are essential in helping YOUR CAA continue to be a relevant and vital PARTNER in OUR schools and communities.
 
CAA Teacher Grant Donation to CNPPSF & 2023 CNPPSF Shrimp Boil Fund-Raiser

YOUR CAA presented a $1,000 check to the CNPPSF at the 8/14/2023 C-NP School Board meeting.  The CNPPSF will use this donation to augment funding for their 2023 grants to teachers within the C-NP School District.  As demonstrated by this donation and CAA attendance at CNPPSF Board meetings, YOUR CAA wholeheartedly endorses and supports the CNPPSF as a collaborative Partner organization in our joint efforts on behalf of C-NP Schools.

One very important facet of the CNPPSF mission is their annual teacher grant application, assessment, and awarding process that presented $23,000 in grants to C-NP teachers during the 2022-23 school year.  In order to fund these generous teacher grants, the CNPPSF relies on money raised from their annual community Shrimp Boil event.  The 2023 Shrimp Boil will be on Saturday, 09/23/2023, at 6:00 pm at Choctaw Creek Park’s main pavilion. 

Check out the CNPPSF website for more information about their mission, to purchase tickets for the 2023 Shrimp Boil event, and/or to provide volunteer support.  We encourage everyone to make plans to attend the 2023 Shrimp Boil for a great time, great food/beverage, and an even GREATER cause.

2023 & 2024 “Milestone” Events for Any CHS Class:

If your class is celebrating a Milestone or any other event/gathering, YOUR CAA can help you publicize your event – IF we know about it. We will:

  • Post your event info on the Events Calendar and in the Class Reunions section.
  • Include it in our email correspondence and in CHS-related Facebook group posts.

Let us know and stay informed by:

  • Completing the Reunion/Event Notification form in the Events-Reunions section;
  • Using the website’s Contact Us capability;
  • Sending us an email at info@choctawalumni.org or reunions@choctawalumni.org;
  • Providing your Alumni Contact Info and encouraging your classmates to do so as well.
